The Primary role of the therapist is to meet the physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional needs of the advanced cancer patient through the application of the principles and methods of Music Therapy in a variety of settings including Calvary Hospital, Hospice, Home Care, and Brooklyn Campus.
Assesses patient/family needs and develops a written individual Music Therapy Plan of Care.
Plans and implements individual music therapy interventions.
Evaluates and adjusts individual Music Therapy Plan of Care based on patient/family needs.
Monitors and modifies referral system for patients and families.
Adheres to departmental policies and procedures for medical chart and group session documentation.
Schedules and conducts with effective techniques all aspects of music therapy process.
Prepares accurate recording and case summaries for consultation and supervision.
Maintains program development and growth in patient and non-patient care areas.
Compiles and produces timely and accurate monthly statistical reports.
M.A., B.A. or equivalency in Music Therapy and Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapy.
At least one year of experience working with oncology patients or related population.
Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.
